Susan, it is frightening what some of the dangers our students have lurking around the corner. One predator was speaking with 15 different student in the area hoping to snag one. He got away. Our district has placed a notebook computer in the hands of each high school student and we are now giving them training in how to be safe on those computers. Elementary and middle school students are being trained in cyber safety, as well. And, the cyber bullying is yet another topic. Seems like with every advance in society, we have a setback.

Yep. Unfortunately, we may have embraced computers too enthusiastically and too completely without thoroughly planning for the problems that come along with it. One of the problems I find is that most adults (myself included) are not as computer savvy as the kids are, and that makes it so difficult to monitor them effectively.
