As summer comes to a close, we are all busily preparing for the upcoming school year. Recent articles Group and Classroom Games and Group and Classroom Icebreakers have been very popular: you might want to check these pieces out for a variety of games you can use with classes and large groups. These activities are appropriate for the start of the school year or anytime, and most can be tailored to content area or a specific theme.
A current series of articles deals with some of the issues many of us working with kids face on a regular basis. Preventing Youth Worker Burnout gives some strategies you can use to reduce the stress buildup that is inevitable for those of us in the helping profession. Accepting Student Differences discusses ways we can unwittingly be insensitive to kid’s individual circumstances, be it financial problems, family situations, etc. It goes on to talk about ways to manage tricky situations that might crop up without causing embarrassment.
